While nuclear weapons have not been used in the world for 81 years since the atomic bombings in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, neither have they been abolished. After researching the past and present situations surrounding nuclear weapons in the world (e.g., the Cuban Missile Crisis, Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW), the Ukraine issue, etc.), please discuss with other participants why this situation persists.

Or does it also include a society free from “structural violence” — such as poverty, discrimination, and inequality — that limits people’s potential? In your view, what role does the abolition of nuclear weapons play in achieving such peace?

However, once nuclear weapons are used, the damage would be incalculable and could threaten the survival of humanity.
